The 2007-2008 Abendmusik concerts offer several of Bach's large-scale works written during his years in Leipzig. The Bach Choir, augmented to meet the demands of works like Bach's St. Matthew Passion and double-chorus motet Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied, appears with the Bach Orchestra, now playing exclusively on period instruments. The internationally acclaimed Ensemble Amarcord will present not only works from their native Leipzig, but music from the English Renaissance and international folksongs.
