Bach Vespers feature complete cantatas and other choral works presented by the Bach Choir and Orchestra in the context of Lutheran evening prayer liturgy. This season’s cantatas are drawn from Bach’s earlier works written for the chapel at the Duke of Weimar’s palace where he served as court musician from 1708 to 1717; their more intimate dimensions and smaller performing forces offer a pleasant contrast to the larger works on the Abendmusik series.
