
The Bach Society Welcomes Ben Kerswell
Bach Society Houston is pleased to welcome new Music Associate Ben Kerswell. In his new role, Ben will play organ and harpsichord and assist with administrative matters of the Society.
Ben is also pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Organ Performance at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where he studies with and completed his Master of Music in Organ Performance under Ken Cowan. A graduate of St. Olaf College, he studied organ with Catherine Rodland and previously with Joanne Rodland. While in the St. Olaf Choir, he sang with and accompanied the group on three domestic tours in addition to their international tour to Japan and South Korea in 2017, before serving as the bass section leader.
An active recitalist, Ben performed as a Rising Star at the 2018 National AGO Convention in Kansas City, and he was a semi-finalist in the 2020 National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance before its cancellation. He previously was Organ Scholar at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas and the Church of St. Louis, King of France in St. Paul, Minnesota. He also serves as Music Associate at Christ the King Lutheran Church.
