Bach Academy of the South
A new intensive training program for students | May 14–16, 2021

Bach Academy of the South is a new three-day intensive training program for college/university students. From May 14–16, 2021, participants will work with professional musicians from Bach Society Houston on performance practice, and have the opportunity to perform live with fellow students.

Faculty:

Oleg Sulyga, Baroque Violin Coach

Christopher Besch, Vocal Coach

Program Information:

  • Performances in Houston and Galveston

  • Will assist in providing access to period instruments

  • Transportation between Houston and Galveston will be provided

  • Housing in Bach Society Houston patron homes

  • Music will be provided

Application Requirements:

  • Resume

  • Statement of interest

  • Video recording:

    • Instrumentalists: A solo baroque piece (period instrument not required). A movement from a lengthy work is acceptable.​

    • Singers: A baroque piece written between approximately 1600 and 1750. Music by Handel or Bach is recommended, but a work by other composers during this period is encouraged as well.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in university or college music program.
