Bach in Schools

Bach in Schools is our primary education outreach program. A 45-minute presentation

offered free of charge to elementary school students that focuses on J.S. Bach’s life and music, Bach in Schools features performers from the Bach Society’s orchestra and professional choir, and a real harpsichord.

The program was designed by music teacher Dawn Denne, and each presentation is led by Bach Society director Rick Erickson. Since its beginning in the 2015–16 academic year, Bach in Schools introduced Johann Sebastian, his music, family, and instruments to more than 3,000 young students in the Houston area.

To help in this endeavor we commissioned a tiny spinet harpsichord by San Antonio builder Gerald Self. The instrument is part of all Bach in Schools presentations as well as smaller outreach events throughout the year.

Bach in Schools is free to any interested school. Interested in hosting a presentation?
