Bach in Schools is our primary education outreach program. This 45-minute presentation offered free of charge to elementary school classes, focuses on Johann Sebastian Bach’s life and music featuring Bach Society Houston artists and a real harpsichord.

Bach in Schools was designed by music teacher Dawn Denne, and each presentation is led by Bach Society director, Ben Kerswell. Since its beginning in the 2015–16 academic year, the program has introduced J.S. Bach to more than 3,000 students in the Houston area.

To help in this endeavor we commissioned a tiny spinet harpsichord from San Antonio builder, Gerald Self. The instrument is part of all Bach in Schools presentations as well as smaller outreach events throughout the year.
